Diversity and Inclusion
What does Equality, Diversity & Inclusion mean for Renishaw?
- We will create a workplace built on equality; where everyone has equal opportunity to get involved, to be inspired and transform tomorrow together.
- We will build a workplace that is diverse in thought, that inspires and represents our customers, partners and communities.
- We will ensure that employees feel included through feeling welcomed, valued and respected for who they are as individuals.
Renishaw recognises that increasing diversity in our company will enable us to be a responsible and productive business that is powered by talented people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. This is central to our company strategy to provide a great place for our people to work, grow and contribute.
To enable us to focus on diversity within our strategy, we formed the UK Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Group in 2020. In 2023 we also brought in dedicated resource to focus on our EDI efforts and accelerate our progress.
Led by employee representatives, the EDI Group supports equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives throughout the business, including celebrating awareness days and providing information to colleagues in the form of videos, online communications, guest speakers and colleague-to-colleague drop-in sessions. The Group has raised awareness on topics such as race and ethnicity, sexuality, gender, cultural awareness, wellbeing, mental health, and people with disabilities.
To develop EDI engagement in the business, we have a wide network of supporters, in the form of EDI Champions. These Champions support EDI activities and promote these in their local business areas across the UK. They also provide information and support to colleagues and gather feedback that will help to inform future EDI activities.
We have also partnered with a number of organisations to support EDI within Renishaw.
Partnerships
ENEI (Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion) is the UK's leading employer network, covering all aspects of equality and inclusion in the workplace. As a network member, Renishaw has access to its expert guidance and training, resources and events.
Renishaw are a Disability Confident Employer. in 2021. This is a UK Government scheme that supports us to make the most of the skills of disabled people within our organisation and helps us to recruit from the widest possible pool of talent. It's important for Renishaw to employ disabled people as it enables us to reflect our communities and customer base as well as making the most of the skills of disabled people, and Disability Confident helps us to do that.
We are a partner of the Empowered Employers campaign, led by Barnwood Trust, a Gloucestershire based charity. The campaign aims to support local organisations in considering attitudes and policies that enable meaningful work opportunities for disabled people, people with mental health challenges and neurodivergent people.
WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) was set up to ‘enable and promote the participation, contribution and success of women in the UK STEM workforce'. Renishaw became a member in 2021 and this enabled all our UK employees to access WISE's professional development and awareness tools and information.
