Deep brain stimulation (DBS)
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) can provide remarkable therapeutic benefits for otherwise treatment-resistant movement and affective disorders such as Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, chronic pain, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and major depression.
How can we help?
Because DBS is a technique that relies on the precise placement of electrodes and targeting of structures deep within the brain, our products are ideally placed for use in these procedures.
We supply the stereotactic robot for accurate guidance, the software to assist in planning the best route to target and also the consumables required to ensure the electrodes remain along their planned trajectory.
Stereotactic procedures can be hampered by inaccurate positioning for many reasons, of which human error is only one. The robot reduces the degree of error by precisely positioning the tools to pre-programmed co-ordinates, with a high degree of accuracy and reproducibility.
