Employee perspectives - Marcin Barwinek

I am a Product Sales Manager navigating market changes to meet customer needs.

Marcin Barwinek

The evolving market landscape in Europe is driving businesses to prioritise innovation and efficiency. As companies navigate challenges such as skills shortages, they are increasingly embracing automation to optimise existing equipment and systems.

Here, Marcin Barwinek, Area Sales Manager, and Product Sales Manager for Styli and Fixtures at Renishaw, discusses how the company is adapting to these changing market conditions.

I studied engineering at Poznań University of Technology in Poland, and my final year thesis focused on comparing methods used in different standards to evaluate machine repeatability and accuracy. It was during this project that I first encountered Renishaw. Its equipment's reliability and precision inspired me to work there, and in 2014, I secured a role as an Area Sales Manager based in Poland. My responsibilities later expanded to include the role of Sales Manager for metrology fixturing and styli.

Renishaw meets demands of evolving markets

The job crisis in Europe is reshaping market demands, with 75 per cent of employers across 21 European countries struggling to fill vacancies due to a shortage of skilled workers. This crisis leads to reduced productivity and limited growth, decreasing companies' spending power to invest in new products and services. Part of my role is addressing these challenges by providing solutions that enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of our customers' existing equipment.

In my role at Renishaw, I witness firsthand the positive impact our products and services have on customers. I feel privileged to work with a diverse range of clients, gathering their needs and valuable feedback to ensure we continually meet and exceed their expectations. Cost effectiveness and customer safety are vital aspects of all Renishaw's products.

By focusing on efficiency and safety, Renishaw not only meets current customer needs, but also positions itself for sustained growth in a challenging economic environment. Our range of probing, tool measurement systems, and diagnostic tools for CNC machines, enhances accuracy, resulting in substantial cost savings and improved quality.

In recent years, I have seen a rise in the installation of machine tool diagnostics products like Renishaw's QC20 ballbar that minimises downtime and inspection costs. Recently, I worked on the installation of our AxiSet™ systems, which provide multi-axis machine performance data to identify poor alignment and enhance rotary axis accuracy. For co-ordinate measuring machines, Renishaw's REVO® five-axis measuring system increases scanning speeds and achieves cycle time savings. Similarly, our ToolWiseTM, broken tool detection system for CNC machine tools offers reliability and speed by completing cutting tool checks in under a few seconds. A crucial feature of these systems is improved worker safety by eliminating manual inspections.

The future of automation

Renishaw recognises the market's shift toward automation and robotics. In response, we have developed innovative solutions like the new RSC product series which improve the set-up and operation of industrial robots. These new products and our existing probing systems enable machines and systems to operate autonomously with minimal human intervention.

Renishaw is committed to navigating the evolving market landscape by prioritising innovative, cost-effective solutions that enhance existing systems. By focusing on efficiency and safety, the company not only meets current customer needs, but also positions itself for sustained growth in a challenging economic environment.
