Conditions of participation

The course is intended for attendees with a reasonable understanding of spectroscopy, and we recommend that you have at least six months of experience using a Renishaw Raman system before attending this workshop. Attendees should have WiRE 4 or later.

Course overview

Raman Revealed is a highly interactive, four-day course which combines tutorials and discussions with hands-on learning. You will collect Raman data on the inVia confocal Raman microscope and then analyse it using the latest WiRE software. By the end of the course, you will understand the optimum analytical approach for your samples.

Day one - Monday 22^th of September - (12 pm 5 pm):

Walkthrough of the inVia Raman microscope and spectrometer.
Sample preparation and sample viewing.
Understanding instrumental and experimental parameters for effective data acquisition including laser wavelength, laser power, grating, objective, and acquisition time.

Day two - Tuesday 23^th of September - (9 am 5 pm):

Measurement setups with LiveTrack and Surface
o Single spectra, mapping, depth measurements and Volume
Collecting Raman map data and fast Raman imaging techniques
o StreamLine and StreamHR
Data processing including cosmic ray removal, baseline subtraction and truncation.
Spectral library searching and creating libraries.

Day three - Wednesday 24^th of September (9 am 5 pm):

Univariate data analysis
Masking and chains
Curve fitting
Creating Raman images with univariate and multivariate analysis.

Day four - Thursday 25^th of September - (9 am 12 pm):

Recapitulation and discussion of the previous days
Hands-on learning by measuring different unknown samples on the inVia system in small working groups.

The training workshop will run for four days:
- Monday, 22 September 2025, 12 pm 5 pm
- Tuesday, 23 September 2025, 9 am 5 pm
- Wednesday, 24 September 2025, 9 am 5 pm
- Thursday, 25 September 2025, 9 am 12 pm

Costs

2000 (ex. VAT) for all four days. The price includes course materials, lunch, refreshments and a certificate of attendance. Travel and accommodation are not included.
