Three questions from Haas Spain to Renishaw about the XL-80 interferometer
Haas Automation is a machine tool manufacturer; more specifically, it is the largest distributor and manufacturer in the United States. Founded in the 1980s, it works around the world through its wide range of distributors, called HFOs. Haas Automation has three main facilities in Spain, namely, in Barcelona, Madrid and Vitoria.
Jorge Vélez Martínez, Technical Service Manager of Haas Spain, interviewed Aitor Merino, Product Manager for Calibration and Encoders, to learn about the benefits of using the XL-80 interferometer on their machines.
The XL-80 can perform all kinds of geometric verifications, and in the case of Haas Spain, not only could it verify the linear positioning errors of the different axes of the machine, but it could also measure angular positioning errors.
Measurements made on this system are compiled into software, and a corresponding compensation table is generated and fed into the Haas control to automatically compensate the linear or angular axis.
In the following video, Jorge has three questions for Aitor Merino to find out how to get the most out of the equipment.
