Application note: AksIM-2 BiSS-C register access (pdf)

The BiSS-C interface implemented in AksIM supports bidirectional communication in register access mode. The readhead is user programmable and has 4 kB user memory. The implementation is compliant with BiSS (also Standard Encoder Profile known as “BP3”), which is used to group linear and rotary encoders.
