The PH20 PLUS system builds on the proven performance of the PH20 5-axis touch-trigger system, extending inspection reach by more than 50% while retaining the speed, flexibility and productivity benefits trusted by manufacturers worldwide. It improves access to features deep inside parts and hard-to-reach areas, expanding the range of applications that can benefit from 5-axis measurement performance.
The redesigned system retains the proven high-speed 5-axis technology that has made the PH20 system a widely adopted solution for precision manufacturing. Measurement points are captured using rapid head motion rather than moving the entire CMM structure, enabling faster point acquisition with improved accuracy and repeatability.
By eliminating the need to index the head between measurements, the PH20 PLUS system reduces cycle times and provides optimal feature access, helping users achieve significant productivity gains compared with conventional 3-axis inspection methods.
Easy access to features at any angle
Infinite positioning capability provides optimal feature access while minimising stylus changes. The 5-axis simultaneous motion allows larger parts to be measured by minimising the space required around the component for head rotation. The PH20 PLUS head automatically aligns itself with the part coordinate system, helping avoid stylus collisions and reducing fixturing requirements.
Existing part programmes can also be maintained, helping minimise upgrade costs and implementation effort. The PH20 PLUS system can be configured to match the effective working length of existing PH20 installations, simplifying upgrade and replacement decisions.

New PE20 range of modules

A new family of PE20 modules has been developed specifically for the PH20 PLUS head. The redesigned kinematic interface supports longer and heavier modules, extending maximum reach by 107 mm compared with the original PH20 system.
Together, these configurations enable a maximum working length of up to 300 mm when used with a 50 mm stylus, providing greater flexibility for challenging measurement applications.
A modular rack system supports automatic and repeatable probe module changing. The configurable rack system accommodates both TP20 and PE20 modules, enabling flexible system configurations and helping users maximise inspection efficiency.
Existing TP20 probe modules* can continue to be used through the PB20 adaptor, allowing customers to retain current hardware, stylus configurations and established measurement strategies. Existing part programmes can also be maintained, helping minimise upgrade costs and implementation effort.
The PH20 PLUS system can be configured to match the effective working length of existing PH20 installations.

Faster calibration

The unique 'inferred calibration' technique developed for PH20 5-axis system determines head orientation and probe position in a single operation, allowing subsequent measurement at any head angle. Additional probe modules require only a few touches on the calibration sphere before use, or can be fully calibrated at feature orientation when enhanced metrology performance is required.
These time savings accumulate as calibration is repeated to satisfy quality procedures or following a probe crash.
